Almost the end of the year and luncheon was at Calico Town Winery, a short walk from Muscat House or an even shorter drive. Calico Town is very much, a dog friendly venue. We sat under the sail cloth overlooking the olive grove. It really is nice to have lunch at a winery where you can taste your wines and make a choice of wine to accompany your meal. In this case Rob and Melanie had a Miners Daughter Shiraz which was served chilled. The wine is a nice light Shiraz, perfect for a warm summer afternoon which perfectly complimented the Tandoori chicken. There was plenty of shade which is always important on a hot day. We ran into a really nice couple that we ended up having a round of Affogatto coffee accompanyied with Tokay. For a dog friendly place to have lunch that captures the serenity of Rutherglen Calico Town provided a wonderful destination. Oh and you also produce Wicked Virgin Olive Oil. Woof.
A visit to one of our favourite wineries today, Pfeiffers at Wahgunyah. Definitely a dog friendly winery where you can sit by the side of your people as they sample wine. Today was the farmers market, we got to see and taste the various produce at stalls set up around the grounds of Pfeiffers . There were other dogs all on leads enjoying the day out with their people, including a couple of Irish Wolfhounds. It turned out they were staying at B&B Must Love Dogs, which is also dog friendly. A lovely day out.
