WINERIES

You may have been wine tasting before but wine tasting in Rutherglen is different. How so? Start with a town that is synonymous with a particular variety - Muscat. So special is it that it isn't referred to as just Muscat, this is Rutherglen Muscat! Don't like fortifieds? Try Rutherglen's other specialty - Durif! Then just to confound those people who thought the town just did sweet and sticky or heavy reds, discover what the town does in white and sparkling. Now couple these great wines with a town where the winemakers come together under the title of Winemakers of Rutherglen to promote not just themselves but what the whole town has to offer. So you aren't a wine drinker? Maybe you enjoy the occasional wine but this visit is about great food. Has Rutherglen got some great surprises in store for you. You can choose anything from fine dining to brilliant pub meals, some incredible meat pies or choose to go shopping and make your own.  Its not just meals though, its in between snacks you want to think about too. Sweet tooths can go for the chocolates whilst nothing beats a cheese platter near a billabong (accompanied by a bottle of bubbly or in one location, 'Pfizz'!)

With all this talk of eating and drinking maybe you have become self conscious and feel the need to work off some weight. Maybe though you've realised this is a beautiful part of the world where you just want to escape into the serenity this area can offer. This area is renown for its bike trails. Picture yourself riding carefree through vineyards or coasting along beside the Murray.
